yeah yeah, sooo you want to do more than be an indie/queer punk in chicago???
well, here you go! this is the list of stuff to do that is not touristy but still cool!
theater is fun!
many many good shows go up in chicago... but many people overlook some
great stuff... and here's some!
- the neofuturists
put on one of the greatest feats of mankind called "too much light makes the baby go blind..."
tmlmtbgb is pure genius: 30 plays in 60 minutes, the cast and audience
heavily interact with screaming and laughing, and if they sell out: they
order out! PIZZA!!! the cost is also determined 4 + the roll of a die... they are fun! (on foster and ashland above a funeral parlor, off the berwyn el stop)
- also good is the annoyance theater on clark (right across from the metro, addison el stop)..
they have the longest running show in chicago's history "coed prison sluts"... it's truly a
disgusting, perverse, hilarious musical... you'll be singing dirty songs in no time..
- last and probably least is "the rocky horror picture show"... at the
evanston loews theatre on central ave (three blocks west of the central purple line stop) where the midnight madness
cast of chicago performs every saturday at midnight... i used to be in the
cast, but there is still reason to go...
oh yeah, price is $5.50, and props are very very much allowed and encouraged (just don't bring mace, knives or a supersoaker, because they do door searches)...
Girlbar... now, i don't drink but i know some of you do... sooo here's a place
for you dykes to meet ladies... it's on halsted street in lincoln park, just south of boystown..
men, go there (to boystown) if you want your bars... they line the streets!
